Biography
Ixchel Prada is a visual artist born in Xalapa, Veracruz ( México) in 1979. Ixchel studied Music from an early age and worked in the “Orquesta Filarmónica de Veracruz” from 1995 to 2002 as a violinist.
She studied stage design in “Accademia di belli Arti” di Roma from 2002 to 2007 with a thesis in costume design.
During her studies in Rome she had assisted several visual artist’s studio, and had had different collaborations in theaters and films productions doing art design.
Ixchel artwork is based on a research about the personal self and about the collective unconscious, influenced by Carl Jung, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Martin Buber; where women (and herself) are the focus of this elemental chaotic and dark world.
Her work span from the art crafts, which is the interest of making goods, to the abstract-figurative influenced by the modern Belgian and Dutch artists.
Ixchel works across a broad range of media, including sculpture, sculpture dress, ceramics, painting, drawing, installation, photography and video.
